Sandhills Teen Challenge was beneficiary of a contribution presented by the Sandhills Classic Street Rod Association recently.
The money was raised at this year's Sardine Festival Car and Truck Show in October and by other activities of the car club throughout the year.
Executive Director, Sal DiBianca and his wife, Debby, of Sandhills Teen Challenge accepted $1,000 at the December Sandhills Classics meeting.
The organization has been helping youth, adults and families in the area for the last 22 years.
"This contribution will be used to operate the men's recovery home and for drug prevention programs for teens," said Sal DiBianca. "We have a number of area churches involved in our work and a lot of volunteers too."
Sandhills Teen Challenge is located on Farm Life School Road.
"This contribution brings the total from the Sandhills Classics to $4,000 for Teen Challenge in the last two years," said James Edwards, vice president of Sandhills Classics.
Plans to help the Interfaith Food Pantry in Aberdeen and the Carthage Food Pantry are well under way.
The Sandhills Classics hosted the New Year's Day Ramblin' Road Cruise at Al's 50's Diner in Southern Pines.
Funds raised at this event went to the local food pantries.
