On March 29, 2009, a gunman opened fire at Pinelake Health and Rehab Center in Carthage, resulting in eight fatalities.
The lessons learned from this real-life mass casualty incident will be one of the many training sessions designed specifically for the 17th annual Sandhills Emergency Services Seminar that will be held on the campus of Sandhills Community College in Van Dusen Hall, Friday, Jan. 29 through Sunday, Jan. 31.
This weekend of workshops and activities, tailored to emergency medical service and 911 personnel, emergency department staff, fire department staff and law enforcement, is designed to strengthen existing skills, present new techniques and methods, and provide sessions that are interactive and dynamic.
The Emergency Services Seminar brochure and registration form are available at the College's Web site in the Continuing Education Public Services Fire and Rescue Services area.
The completed registration form must be submitted to Jayne Heisig at Sandhills Community College, 3395 Airport Road, Pinehurst, NC 28374 by Wednesday, Jan. 8.
