Fayetteville Museum Holds Annual Quiz Bowl
On Jan. 28, the Museum of the Cape Fear Historical Complex, in Fayetteville, will host the ninth annual Civil War Quiz Bowl.
Contestants will test their knowledge of trivia, tactics and history as they are assailed with assorted categories, covering all aspects of the War Between the States.
The topics will range from the great names and famous battles, to obscure personalities and fascinating factoids about America's defining conflict.
The event is free.
The competition is open to contestants of all ages, and prizes will be awarded for both the adult and student winners.
While the difficulty level of the questions is the same -- regardless of the age of the contestants -- younger participants over the years have demonstrated a keen knowledge of Civil War history, and generally given their elders a run for their money.
"Be sure and sign up early," says a spokesman. "Participation is limited to 20, and due to the growing popularity of the quiz bowl, the list fills up fast."
The Civil War Quiz Bowl is also open to the public, with plenty of room for friends, family and spectators.
It will begin at 7 p.m., in the social hall of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, adjacent to the museum. Parking will be available in the museum parking lot.
"Whether you're up to the challenge of a fierce trivia battle, or simply in search of an entertaining evening of history and fun, the quiz bowl is the place to be," says the spokesman.
