Because of the generosity of many private donors, Sandhills Community College is able to award more than $350,000 in merit and need-based scholarships each academic year.

Applications for scholarship early consideration for the academic year 2010-2011 are being accepted through this Friday.

Scholarships are administered through the college's Financial Aid Office. A scholarship committee, appointed by college President John Dempsey, selects the scholarship recipients.

The scholarship process includes a completed admissions application, the completion and filing of the free application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and a completed scholarship application for the 2010-2011 academic year. All forms, as well as the list of scholarships, are posted on the college's Web site at www.sandhills.edu.

In addition, current high school students must submit a high school transcript to the Financial Aid Office at Sandhills and must forward a scholarship recommendation form to two teachers or staff members for completion. The form can be found on the SCC Web site.
