Two Arrested on Drug Charges

An undercover drug investigation conducted by officers of the Moore County Sheriff’s Office narcotics unit resulted in the arrest of two people on charges of distributing controlled prescription pills.
Jonathan Gray Ashburn, 21, and Nalani Patricia Gouveia, 20, face various charges after being arrested Wednesday, according to a press release. During the investigation, officers with the narcotics unit purchased and seized four Oxycontin pills and six Roxicodone pills, according to the release. The investigation was conducted during August 2009, according to the release.
Ashburn, of 2196 Joel Road, Carthage, has been charged with two counts of felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, two counts of felony sell a Schedule II controlled substance, and two counts of felony deliver a Schedule II controlled substance and one count of felony conspiracy to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. He was released on a $50,000 unsecured bond.
Gouveia, of Austin Ridge Apartments No. 312, Southern Pines, has been charged with felony possession with intent to sell or deliver a Schedule II controlled substance, felony sell a Schedule II controlled substance and felony deliver a Schedule II controlled substance. She was released on a $25,000.
