The annual Spelling Bee for Literacy, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, at Owens Auditorium on the campus of Sandhills Community College, has traditionally been a "sell-out."
Although admission is free the night of the show, this year, organizers are offering a new program.
For an advance tax-deductible donation of $50, those wishing to have a reserved seat can do so - and a 2010 Friends of the Bee T-shirt and a mention in the program as well. To make a donation and get a reserved seat, contact the Moore County Literacy Council at (910) 692-5954.
The doors open at 6 p.m. for the show at 7 p.m.
A United Way Agency, Moore County Literacy Council is a nonprofit organization that provides free tutoring for adults who need to improve their reading and writing skills. All donations are tax-exempt.
The 2010 Spelling Bee for Literacy is presented by The Pilot and sponsored by Stifel-Nicolaus Wealth Management Group.
