The Southern Pines Business Association (SPBA) announces a "call for artists" for Springfest 2011.

Springfest, a celebration of the arts and community, is held annually on the streets of downtown Southern Pines on the last Saturday of April.

This rite of passage is sponsored by the SPBA and co-sponsored by the Town of Southern Pines. Next year's festival will be held Saturday, April 30, and the deadline for artists and fine craftspeople to apply for participation is Monday, Jan. 31.

"Each year we strive to improve the Springfest experience for artists and attendees,"says Jean Skipper, Springfest -chairperson. "Our efforts are yielding results, and the number of artisan applications that we receive each year has been growing. The increased competition results in a better festival experience for everyone involved."

The Springfest Committee is seeking to include a diverse selection of high quality work. Perennial favorites will join with new artists to create a unique experience for regional -collectors and visitors alike. Artists and fine craftspeople who create with wood, metal, glass, paint, mixed media, pottery and more are invited to apply for participation.
