Whispering Pines police were investigating a report today that someone was going to homes in the village soliciting cash donations for Union Pines High School.
Union Pines High School Principal Robin Lea was contacted by the Whispering Pines police, who told officers that the school has not authorized any activity involving door-to-door sales or collections, according to an e-mail sent to The Pilot from school system spokesman Tim Lussier.
All schools in the Whispering Pines, Carthage, Cameron and Vass areas were to send out a phone message (Connect-ED) to the homes of students and employees to alert them regarding this issue, Lussier said.
