Louisburg Snaps SCC's Six-Game Winning Streak

Sandhills Community College's six-game winning streak was brought to end by Louisburg College 121-99 at The O’Neal School Monday night.
The Div. III Flyers (11-3) and Div. II Hurricanes (11-1) both came into the contest on a roll. The home team jumped in front 7-2 on a drive by Western Harnett product Johnny Elliot who went on to score a team-high 24 points. It led for the final time at 15-14 on another drive for two by Joe Houpe.
Jeremy Atkinson sparked a burst that led to a 54-45 halftime lead for the Hurricanes. The 14th ranked team in Div. II scored the first 11 points of the second half and maintained a margin of between 14 and 21 points the rest of the way.
Atkinson and Duke Dorsey each scored 23 points for the winners. Pinecrest graduate Phillip Moultrie scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds for the Flyers. Also for the home team, Joe Houpe had 12 points and 12 rebounds, Raheem Jolliffe added 12 points and Daquain Towns, another Pinecrest alum, contributed 10 points.
The Flyers complete the pre-holiday portion of their schedule with a game at Catawba Valley on Thursday.
