A ring pawned at a local store led to the arrest Wednesday of a West End man on several charges.

Moore County Sheriff's Investigators arrested Delontae Gillespie, 25, 253 Patton Road, West End, and charged him with breaking and entering into a motor vehicle, larceny, possession of stolen property and obtaining property by false pretense, according to a press release.

The arrest stemmed from a report made to the sheriff’s office on Oct. 10 from an Aberdeen man that his vehicle had been broken into while located in the Carthage area and that a ring was taken, according to the release.

Later, Jim’s Loans, Guns and Gold reported a fraud had occurred because the ring allegedly stolen from the vehicle had been pawned at the shop, according to the release.

Gillespie was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.

I didn't violate the usage agreement. The censor today has no sense of humor.
