Abusing Their Freedom

CNN reports that there are around 100 mosques in Manhattan. Yet American Muslims wish to build another near ground zero. Americans of all faiths, even Paul Dunn, should remember that true freedom is the power to do what one should do, not the authority to do what one wants to do.

Muslims supporting the building of this mosque are clearly abusing their freedom. That is the root of this problem.

You have freedom...just don't use it?

"You have freedom...just don't use it?" says dusty....Your absolutely right dusty! In this particular case that would be the very best action the Imam and his followers to take. We have plenty of freedoms as individuals that we COULD do each and every day...But the majority of us choose not to do certain things out of respect for others and just pure common sense. Tom is exactly correct and sensible in what he said. Most people act exactly in the way Tom is proposing. It's too bad for all of us, to include the peaceful muslim people that Imam and some want to poke that stick in our eye.

The pilgrims who came to this land had the freedom in Europe to worship as they "should" have.

Dissidents in the Soviet Union "should" have just kept their mouth shut and plowed the field.

Freedom is not the right to do what the majority, or a vocal minority, feels is right.

Freedom is also the right to voice your dislike of what is perceived as a poor choice or an abuse.

MikeNC: The stick in our eye is the fact that 9 years after the event, we still have a hole in the ground. For comparison purposes, the city of Hiroshima, Japan, which we leveled with the first atomic bomb ever used in warfare (at a cost of over 100,000 civilian lives), was mostly rebuilt within 10 years of the event. Put your rage to good use and demand that WE build something at the ACTUAL site.

I guess the Muslim center (it's not a mosque anymore than a Las Vegas casino is a church because it contains a wedding chapel) two-and-a-half blocks from Ground Zero is somehow more sinister than an actual mosque already built three and a half blocks from Ground Zero.

When will the Republicans and teabaggers abandon meaningless wedge issues and take on the important issues that face us?

Yeah, how dare they put a mosque there? Religion? IN THE USA? Not on my watch. Let's get a whore house going there instead. You people are ridiculous. Because we ALL know that all people who attend mosques are Islamic Extremists. Tards.

@ Prometheus. Please be more succinct. I might actually be more likely to read your posts. This is one place less is more.

Taxed2deth, I guess the mosque 3.5 blocks from Ground Zero is too far away to count.
