Pinecrest senior Dillon Maples saw mound action for the East team in Sunday’s Aflac All-American Baseball Classic held at the San Diego Padres’ PETCO Park.

The East defeated the West 5-3 in the game that was televised by Fox Sports South. Maples pitched the third inning prior to the local station picking up the game in progress.

The right-hander allowed one run, one hit and walked a batter. He was visible to viewers on camera shots of players in the dugout.

Maples was 8-2 as a pitcher for Pinecrest this spring. He was also a member of the U.S. National Team that competed at the 18-and-under World Junior Baseball Championship that was concluded in Thunder Bay, Ontario, earlier this month.
