Center for Creative Retirement Begins Fall Semester

The Center for Creative Retirement at Sandhills Community College provides programs and resources that enhance the intellectual, physical and personal well-being of active retirees in the Sandhills.
Both classes meet Thursdays, Aug. 19 through Oct. 7.
Anyone who loves to laugh or needs to laugh should join "Laughter in the Sandhills," a wildly popular laughter workout. Heart-healthy, therapeutic laughter exercises, enriches and benefits the body, mind and spirit. Led by a certified laughter coach, this course will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. in Van Dusen Hall.
A new course, "Modern N.C. History: A Field Guide for the Oral Historian," will explain how one prepares for and collects oral history interviews. Dr. Julian Pleasants will explain legal and ethical issues, transcribing and editing, researching and designing questions, and what equipment to use and how to use it. This class meets from 6 to 8 p.m.
The registration fee for each course is $65, which is waived for those 65 years of age and older.
