Still Enough Time to Save Our Country

When the rest of the civilized world has decided they want to cut back on taxes and expenditures, why does the Obama government in the United States of America want to keep on expanding expenditures and taking everything in sight?

If the Democratic party is so happy to raise taxes on the rest of the country, why not let all the registered Democrats pay for them?

Does anyone have a better idea? I would sure like to hear it above the loud din of an overwhelmingly liberal news media.

The United Kingdom is moving away from national health care while the United States moves toward it. Where do they think all the many more doctors needed now, today and in future days, would be foolish enough to opt for socialized medicine? The receivers and the caregivers should be brought closer together, not shoved apart.

Americans who are proud to live in the best and most free country in this crazy world are not taking this lying down. The tea party folks are showing their mettle and are strong patriots unafraid to show their love and respect for our great country and "for which it stands."

Doesn't that loyalty to our country give you a warm, proud feeling to know they represent the huge silent majority of Americans who are busy trying to keep the nuts and bolts together for an even better, greater future?

Nobody ever said it would be easy, but don't you feel thankful that we can still "Take Back America" from those who have been bamboozled with a lot of meaningless but harmful words and endless speeches?

Long live our republic!

FACT: The CONSERVATIVE Prime Minister of the United Kingdom has increased the funding for the National Health Service. (UK Financial Times 5/12/10)

FACT: The CONSERVATIVE Prime Minister of the United Kingdom HAS raised taxes. Value Added Tax from 17.5% to 20%, Capital Gains increased to 28% to protect the National Health Service. (BBC News 9/22/10)

Can we please have some honesty from those opposed to healthcare reform? Can we have some real CONSERVATIVES in this country?

Thank you, commonsense77. Ms. Bursey was just parroting what she hears from her single news source.

lindy888: I've read a little about the Fair Tax and the Flat Tax. The Fair Tax plan, as I understand it, is a value added tax (VAT) that we all would pay when we purchase a product or a service. In other words, rather than paying a tax on what you earn, you pay a tax on what you spend. I would think this plan would encourage people to limit spending and increase savings. I'm also unclear how the government would collect the VAT on purchases made outside the USA. I would think that a flat tax on all income, with no deductions or exceptions for anyone, would be the fairest and most easy method to administer.

Jimt, The fairtax actually provides a reimbursement for necessities so you are not paying a federal tax on essential goods and services(like food necessities).

The fair tax replaces federal income taxes including personal, estate, gift, capital gains, alternative minimum, Social Security, Medicare, self-employment, and corporate taxes.

It has been well studied. There are answers to your unknowns---check out fairtax.org

taxed2deth, well said

I think we shouldnt pay the house, senate, the president, and the supreme court justices the same amount of money that they were making when they were working. Its stupid that they get to pick how much money they get paid for the rest of their lifes and there is nothing we can do about it. The rich get richer cuz they control everything.

Since you don't live in Moore County ~ you may have driven in to attend the TEA party picnic. Perhaps you should stick to Lee County politics....text from another thread regarding the TEA party activists.

What has the Moore County GOP and TEA party have to do with 4 million in stimulus funds? Your GOP Congressman Howard Coble voted against the Obama package ~ didn't he? The TEA party that held the picnic blasted Washington's wasteful spending ~ and only a few miles away, Pinehurst voters, many of whom are TEA party activists, have lift stations are being build around lake Pinehurst using that same stimulus money they were complaining about while walking around in funny costumes. Sounds to me that they are talking out of both sides of their mouths....We don't want wasteful spending but give us our share.

The Fair Tax Book by Neal Boortz and Congressman John Linder ISBN 0-06-087541-0 HarperCollins Publishers Inc., 10 East53rd Street, New York, NY 10022 an interesting read.

The Obabacrats are trying to collapse our government by following the Cloward-Piven Strategy, in their effort to socialize our society. The strategy of forcing political change through orchestrated crisis. The "Cloward-Piven Strategy" seeks to hasten the fall of capitalism by overloading the government bureaucracy with a flood of impossible demands, thus pushing society into crisis and economic collapse. It should be clear to anyone with a mind and two eyes that this president and this Congress do not have our interests at heart. They are implementing this strategy on an unprecedented scale by flooding America with a tidal wave of poisonous initiatives, orders, regulations, and laws. As Rahm Emmanuel said, "A crisis is a terrible thing to waste."

Doctors avoid socialized medicine? The two largest organizations in the US based entirely on socialized medicine are the VA and the military. So far neither is having any trouble getting doctors of all specialties to work for them. Maybe you need a new argument.

Taxed2deth: Personal income tax rates are lower than they've been since WWII and you're overtaxed? And how come with taxes that low, the economy hasn't boomed like it did under Clinton with higher rates?

And the national sales tax you support is simply a way for the rich to shift even more of the tax load onto the shoulders of the middle class. It will never get out of committee in Congress.

Hey, ROSS, just saw that comment you made about me.

Don't know if you realized but it shows a frequent tendency of your's to use baseless character assassination in place of argument.

But then again, this blindness to unforeseen consequences of your's is another of your good D-Party like traits

mauiman: My wife was an air force physician for 25 years. I have been cared for at military clinics and hospitals since 1982 and would not trade that care for anything else available. I am amply familiar with what doctors in the military think of their jobs and their service.

The definition of socialism is employment by the state. It's that simple. The only large group of physicians directly employed by the federal government are the military and the VA.

The proponents of the national sales tax use misleading language. Under their proposal, if you bought an item for $130, $100 would be for the product and $30 is the sales tax. And they call that 23%.

Republican economists have pointed out that for this tax to replace the revenue from the current income tax, the rate would have to be 50%. How long do you think the government would be able to sustain our military if they had to pay 50% more for every bomb, bullet, fighter jet or cruise missile. How happy will Americans be to see their medical bills swell by that same 50%.

National sales tax - dead on arrival.

OldSpook 1 year, 6 months ago

Wow Jim, your figures are way wrong as is placing blame on the Repugnant-cans. First, high level politicians are corrupt regardless of which party claims them. Second, the government does not pay a sales tax on any item they purchase, so we could sustain our military without paying 50% more for every bomb, bullet, etc, etc. Third, who said tax medical bills?

Full agreement, National sales tax is road kill.
