“The N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to illustrate your best and most realistic version of a bioluminescent or aquatic bug in its natural surroundings,” says spokesman Jon Pishney.
Illustrations will be accepted through Aug. 31.
The museum is hosting its first-ever BugFest Illustration Contest to celebrate its most popular annual event, BugFest, which this year features aquatic bugs. Winning entries will be displayed at BugFest, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the grand prize winner selected on-site by event attendees.
Additionally, all contest entrants receive one free children’s admission to the museum’s newest special exhibit, “GLOW: Living Lights,” which explores the phenomenon of bioluminescence in creatures ranging from fireflies to vampire squid.
The museum is located in downtown Raleigh.
