The Edge Goes to Morgan

Republicans in Moore and Harnett counties are indeed fortunate this year in having such a great choice for our state senator in the election on May 4! We have to select between two outstanding candidates for this office.

For many years I have personally known both Sen. Harris Blake, the incumbent, and Richard Morgan, former co-speaker of the House of Representatives in Raleigh. Both are gentlemen of impeccable character, unquestionable integrity and keen intellect. However, a choice has to be made, and so we have to look to the future possibilities of each candidate to more than adequately represent District 22 in the years before us.

I have to give the edge to Richard Morgan because of his younger age, his greater energy level, plus the experience he gained from his many years of leadership in the Republican Party in Raleigh.

Richard Morgan is the man whom we can follow with complete confidence in the forthcoming years, and I recommend we Republicans cast our votes for him on the Republican ballot on May 4, 2010. Make the right choice!

Mr. Shebs must have forgotten why Morgan was booted out of office by the very people he is asking to vote for him. Morgan showed he had no character, or integrity, and questionable intellect when he left the rest of the Republican party high and dry by making a self serving deal with the Dems. to be Co-Speaker. Morgan will never get my vote, and I will remind every person I can of his despicable actions.

Not a fan or Morgan at all, but what is wrong with working with the Dems or the Dems working with the Repubs? The problem today is no one wants to work with anyone.

Morgan Sold his soul The last time he was in Raliegh and yes i voted to get him there that time but i assure you i will not make that same mistake twice and i urge my fellow republicans to remember what happened the last time we sent him to raliegh and then vote for Harris Blake. It is funny how when a incident in my community (Lobelia) that drew State wide attention occured The older less energetic Harris Blake was on the scene to survey the damage in person and talk to the people effected but i did not see the younger more energetic Richard Morgan Until later in the day Not on the scene of the incident but at the chuck wagon in carthage getting lunch

The Mayor's seat in SP is up for election next year along with two Council seats. Give it a shot if you want. You're in your early 20's, right?

You could be the youngest ever to be elected to the Council. When I was first elected in 2003, I was 31 and I believe I missed being the youngest ever by a few months. Abigail Dowd was 26 or 27 when she was elected in 2007. You could shatter that number if you won.

The job doesn't pay a ton (around $4k/year), but at the town government level, you don't have to worry about partisan politics and you can really make a difference in the quality of life in your community.
