The last group of competitors in the Tour de Moore take off this morning from the corner of Ridge Street and Youngs Road.

Professional and amateur cyclists took off this morning for the 35th running of the Tour de Moore.

This year's race features a revamped course. After running through remote access training areas of Fort Bragg for the first time in the race's history, the racers eventually return to Southern Pines where they will make a final turn back onto East Connecticut Avenue. Then the race ends with an exciting uphill finish at the Campbell House.

In addition to the 100-mile race, several amateur fields are competing in 27- and 54-mile courses. There is more than $2,500 up for grabs in prize money.

Racing began at 8 a.m. and the final activities surrounding the event wind up around 1 p.m.

Spectators are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to the Campbell House to watch the finish of the 100-mile race, which is expected around 11 a.m.
