Moore County’s tea party group is expecting a large crowd to be on hand today for a planned demonstration.
Moore TEA Citizens will reprise its well-attended Tax Day demonstration in front of the Southern Pines post office. The event drew a crowd estimated at 1,000 people last year.
Moore TEA Citizens coordinator Dee Park said she is expecting another big turnout this year.
“There’s going to be a big crowd again this year,” she said. “We’re excited about that. I think people are going to be making signs — some are already hard at work, thinking about what they want to say that day.
“We’ll have the megaphones out, probably more than what we had last year because so many people want to speak, sing and salute the flag, and generally let Washington and Raleigh know how we feel about what’s coming at us.”
The Tax Day event will last from 4 to 7 p.m.
Also today, other Moore TEA Citizens will travel by bus to Washington to take part in the national Tax Day demonstration, which includes a series of activities at the Capitol, Washington Monument and congressional office buildings.

Does this group really think that this demonstration is going to make a difference on any level? Did it make a difference when they did it last year? If so, where is the evidence of change?
I am a skeptic, sorry.

kgirl, Yes, this demonstration by the TEA party is going to make a difference. Maybe not on any national or state level today, but maybe one other person might read the Constitution trying to discern why they are protesting. Maybe someone will turn off the television and pay attention to local politics. There is even a slight chance the media will fairly report that there is a large percentage of Americans that are neither drooling war mongers nor pre-programmed androids following our presidents like sheep. Has the TEA party made a visible difference? Yes, they have. Our incumbent elected officials are well aware of the dissent growing in this country with the way all Washington bureaucrats behave. There is genuine fear in congress that the days of the career politician are numbered. The American people have woken from their sleep and are ready for Statesmen (Statespersons) to represent them at both the State and Federal level. As for the evidence of making any difference, look at those gathered today at the protest. Would they have been involved in exercising their Constitutional rights and protesting just two years ago? For the most, I would doubt it. But they are now and local politicians have noticed their numbers too.

@PILOT STAFF: @LucilleGreybone ~ "Obama has done nothing for this country so far. Period." =>April 13, 2010 at 10:54 a.m. It appears that when other posters defend President Obama like Toda tried to yesterday, staff finds his comments offensive. RmeMP can call posters liers and Amazed can call them ignorant - and their comments are in keeping with your selective policy? The TEA Party can raise derogatory signs no different than terriorist [hate America] on foreign soil, and you publicize them on the front page! Stick to flower garden articles or house warmings because you can't run with the big dogs.

@SCCstudent- I feel so bad for you, and the misconceptions you believe in - please allow me to explain just a few: 1. I have never called anyone a liar, unless they were in fact lying, please show me differently 2. You honestly are trying to compare the people in the picture above to terrorists? Have you ever seen a terrorist in real life, not just on t.v.? Some people here have, and I can assure you that you are mistaken.
BTW, what "big dogs" are you saying that The Pilot can't run with?
Maybe if you get the chance, you should stop by and observe the peaceful demonstration - you may have to change your view about the TEA party in the morning! I hope you have a wonderful day SCC student:)

Not once...anywhere in any posts did I call anyone ignorant. Kinda like the racial epithets that were supposedly yelled by the TEA party demonstrators in DC...never happened...but if it helps boost your argument and helps you sleep at night then go right ahead and pass misinformation right along. I'll be right here to prove you wrong everytime. I invite you to look through every post I've ever posted on this forum and show me where I called anyone ignorant.

Here you go RmeMP: Don't worry you can't give any lamer explanation, and/or flat out lie, than Toda did earlier (@April 13, 2010 at 2:30 p.m.).
What makes you an authority on world events? It's obvious you are not from around here...running with the Big Dogs is a southern saying - at least as long as I can remember!
"2. You honestly are trying to compare the people in the picture above to terrorists? " Then Officer Sir compare the photo on BBC with the placard carrying TEA PARTY protesters on this website: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/london/4700482.stm
From a distance they all look the same...just different issues. I hope you have a good day Command Sergent Major.

To Amazed: Please accept my sincere apology for my misstatement regarding my post about you calling other posters ignorant. I was wrong and my comments were misguided and directed to you - for that I apologize.
I should have directed my ere with MooreFun123 who made a comment that Toda was ignorant...not you. When in fact Toda is very well educated; I know him well. I hope he returns to this blog - sad!
