The artwork of students at Sandhills Classical Christian School is on exhibit Friday, April 16, at 6 p.m.
"We're celebrating the creativity of all the kids," said art teacher Susan Baer.
For this event, students were invited to put on display their favorite creation from among their many projects.
Even the school's preschoolers are participating. Their paintings, drawings and mixed media bring together their knowledge from the classroom and their own imaginations. Classroom work included studies of varied artists, including M.C. Escher, Grant Wood and Matisse.
Guests can vote on their favorite artwork during the reception, and honors will be presented for first-, second- and third-place people's choice winners. The show is free and open to the public and is at Sandhills Presbyterian Church, 650 Pee Dee Road, Southern Pines.
SCCS is a nondenominational Christian school applying the classical methodology to foster young minds to think clearly, listen carefully, reason logically and articulate persuasively.
The school offers a full curriculum for preschool through eighth grade, including art, music and sports activities. Latin studies are introduced beginning in third grade. SCCS incorporates a comprehensive study of the Bible throughout students' education.
