Nothing to Offer Except Disrespect

The Pilot recently contained two letters from people who seem to have downloaded their remarks from the GOP party-line manifesto (April 2).
Mr. Paulk wailed that the recent passage of the health bill was force-fed and unconstitutional. Nothing is even close to the truth, as a bill passes when the majority votes for it. No court has rendered this bill as being unconstitutional.
The “Insurance Underwriting For Dummies” book offered by Mr. Smith comes at the expense of others: the 32 million uninsured and those with pre-existing conditions. Glory be, you don’t ever see people on the right exude compassion and support for those less needy.
Basically, the GOP is the Grand Opposition Party. The moaning and groaning directed toward our president, Congress and the health-care reform bill is a total package from those obstructionists, providing and offering nothing and continuing the total disrespect of Mr. Obama.
The critics label the recent bill as being undemocratic in the manner it was passed. I say this clearly: Reconciliation has been used 23 times by the Congress, and 16 of those times by the GOP.
The GOP just can’t stand it: Obama is president and was elected by one of the largest margins ever, both by popular vote and Electoral College results. Another virus for the GOP is knowing that he is in the Oval Office until at least 2012.
We suffered eight long years with the previous occupants. And we have been feeling the effects of the malfeasance since 2000 with the banking industry and Wall Street blundering that created the economic situation we have now.
The GOP can continue to obstruct, as they do not want Obama to accomplish anything. The Oval Office now has intelligence, articulation and careful thought. I am glad to see it happen, finally.

Umm. The "no nukes" project was initiated in the 80s by some Republican guy named Reagan and then continued by another Republican George H Bush. A 30% reduction in nuclear arms. Wow. So we can only destroy the world about 30 times over - and it doesn't apply to rogue countries who do not sign the treaty - like Iran... Not sure where the paranoia is coming from. The road to Marxism? Don't think so. If so insurance would be nationalized. Heck we couldn't even get a public option so guess who is going to get alot more customers? The BC/BS of the country. Cha ching...capitalism. I too am worried about the track we are on in this country - a track of hate and bigotry. Try educating yourself a little more.
