The Moore County Planning Board will recognize a retiring member and welcome a new member at its Thursday meeting.

Kim VonCanon, a former vice chairwoman, will be honored for her service during the 6 p.m. meeting at the historic courthouse in downtown Carthage. She is ending a second period of service on the planning panel. She previously served for two terms on the board.

Jerry Wilson was recently appointed by the county commissioners to succeed VonCanon on the nine-member board.

The regular agenda includes a hearing on a proposed amendment to the zoning map. This is a request by Herman Aldean Mabe to rezone property at 3628 Murdocksville Road from Highway Commercial to Rural Agricultural. The board will be asked to make a recommendation to the commissioners.

The board will hold a quasi-judicial hearing on a request by Efrain Cardozo for a conditional-use permit for an accessory dwelling unit (a manufactured home) on 1.97 acres at 1140 Mount Carmel Road, Carthage. This is a Rural Agricultural Zoning District.
