Scottish Heritage Day Celebration Set

Scottish Heritage USA (SHUSA), a national organization with offices in Pinehurst, will sponsor the Tartan Day Celebration Tuesday, April 6, in the St. Andrews Room, Pinehurst Country Club, featuring a luncheon and entertainment.

Open to the public, reservations for the event at $25 per person are to be received by April 2. Reservations may be made by calling Jane McPhaul at (910) 692-7272, or SHUSA office at (910) 295-4448 or by e-mailing SHUSA@embarqmail.com.

Valet parking will be available, with a cash bar at 11:30 a.m. and luncheon at noon.

Alex Beaton, internationally known Scottish folksinger and recording star, will present the program following the luncheon.

Beaton is given credit for including the music of the land at Highland Games throughout the country. In addition to piping, dance and competitive games, ballads and Celtic music are now enjoyed, with credit to Beaton for sharing the stories and history of Scotland.

SHUSA was incorporated in 1965 to establish a national organization to expand traditional bonds of friendship between Scotland and the United States. Membership supports the National Trust for Scotland and provides free admission to the many properties available in Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales.
