An Aberdeen man was arrested by Southern Pines police Sept. 12 and charged with indecent exposure.

Southern Pines police, responding to the report of a person exposing himself at Reservoir Park, stopped Philip Jeffery Edwards, 56, of Aberdeen, as he was leaving the park in a vehicle, according to a press release.

Edwards' vehicle matched a description that witnesses had given police. An investigation determined that Edwards was allegedly exposing himself in a public place in the presence of minors, and that he appeared to be intoxicated when operating the vehicle, according to the release.

In addition to the indecent exposure charge, Edwards was charged with driving while impaired (DWI). He was jailed and his bail set at $21,000.
