Pinehurst Man Charged in Car Theft

A Pinehurst man who was apprehended by Southern Pines police Sept. 13 after being seen in a reported stolen vehicle faces numerous charges.
Korey Devar McLeod, 28, of Pinehurst, was arrested in connection with the stolen vehicle and it was discovered that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for an incidence that happened June 16 where a home was entered and items taken, according to a press release.
He was charged with larceny after breaking and entering, and breaking and entering in the June 16 case.
Police found McLeod when investigating the report of the stolen vehicle from Coats Street in Southern Pines, according to the release. Patrol Division officers were searching the area for the vehicle when it was spotted in the 1100 block of Rothney Avenue later in the day, occupied by McLeod, according to the release.
McLeod fled, according to the release, but was apprehended by officers a short distance away. He was charged with receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle and with resist, obstruct, delay an officer.
He was jailed, with bail set at $6,500.
