A Laurinburg car dealer who lives in Pinehurst that had been avoiding arrest for almost a month was captured in Georgia Tuesday, according to a report published in the Laurinburg Exchange.
Frank Silvestry, who lived on Midland Road, was arrested by Savannah, Ga., police. Facing 49 felony charges of fraud brought by the N.C. Department of Transportation, he was expected to surrender on Sept. 3.
The charges stemmed from his ownership of Silvestry Chevrolet in Laurinburg. He is accused of not paying off trade-ins, then reselling them and failure to pay taxes and fees to the state, according to the published report.
Silvestry Chevrolet closed in January.
