Candidates' Forum for Carthage Thursday

A candidates' forum for Carthage will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Carthage Community Building (the old Town Hall) at 203 W. Barrett St.

The building can be accessed from Ray Street since Barrett Street is one way. Parking is on the street.The public is invited to attend. All of the candidates have been invited by the League to participate.

The two candidates vying for the unexpired two-year term as mayor are Bert Patrick and M. T. "Tom" Stewart. The candidates running for three seats with four-year terms on the board are Arthur R. "Artie' Barber Jr., Milton T. Dowdy, Ronnie Gray, Lee T. McGraw, Robert Sullivan and Carl E. Williams.

Three candidates are running for an unexpired two-year term on the Town Board: Victoria Botson, Lisa B. Caddal and Michael C. Campbell.

This forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Moore County, which provides nonpartisan candidate forums among its other activities. Carolyn Mealing, a League member will moderate this forum.

Another forum in Pinehurst is also being planned by the league Sept. 29.
