Graham Haulsee scored on a 3-yard run in the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough for Union Pines as the Vikings dropped a 16-6 decision to Cardinal Gibbons Friday night.

The Vikings squandered an opportunity on their first drive of the game. They marched the 74 yards to the Crusaders' 2, but failed to convert on a fourth and goal play.

The Crusaders broke the scoreless tie on a 39-yard reception by Andrew Shafer.

The Crusaders also scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to take a 16-0 lead.

The Vikings are now 3-2 on the year, while Cardinal Gibbons improved to 4-1 with the win. Union Pines starts its Cape Fear Valley conference campaign next week with a home game against the 0-5 Overhills Jaguars.
