Police Briefs: Man Facing Charges of Prescription Fraud

Moore County sheriff's deputies have arrested a West End man on 25 charges of obtaining prescription pills by fraud.
Ronnie Lawrence Brown Sr., 54, of 210 Woodlawn St., was arrested Tuesday by officers from the Moore County Sheriff's Office narcotics unit after an investigation, according to a press release.
Brown faces 25 charges of felony obtaining controlled substance by misrepresentation to a healthcare provider. He is alleged to have obtained the controlled substances Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Alprazolam and amphetamine salt (Adderall), according to the release.
Brown was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
Car Break-In: A Carthage man has been arrested and charged with breaking into a vehicle and taking a checkbook Sept. 1.
Investigators with the Moore County Sherif's Department arrested Steven Lawrence Gillespie, 30, of 149 Reardon Lane, on Tuesday and charged him with one count of felony breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, one count of misdemeanor larceny and one count of misdemeanor possession of stolen goods, according to a press release.
Gillespie was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Larceny Attempt: An Aberdeen man was arrested by Moore County Sheriff's investigators Tuesday on charges of attempting to steal a motorcycle in the Carthage area in July.
Percy Jermaine Purcell, 28, of 7009 Calloway Road, was charged with one count of felony attempted larceny, according to a press release.
Purcell was released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
