Created by the Arts Council of Moore County, the Kaleidoscope Family Series is specifically designed to introduce children, ages 5 and up, to the lifelong surprises and benefits of a live concert. The series features the finest performing artists (musicians, actors, dancers, storytellers, etc.) and each performance will be educational, as well as entertaining.

The series will be presented in the new theater in The O'Neal School's new activity center, on Airport Road across from Sandhills Community College. With only 250 seats, space is limited. Series tickets to all four concerts are $40 for Arts Council members and O'Neal families, and $50 for the general public. Tickets to individual concerts are also available for $15 each. All concerts will begin at 3 p.m. and will last approximately one hour.

Kaleidoscope will open its inaugural season Sunday, Sept. 20, with one of today's most exciting and innovative chamber music ensembles, the American Chamber Players.

Founded by Miles Hoffman, all the members of ACP are remarkably talented performers, but they are also wonderful teachers who bring a rare combination of skill, experience, warmth and humor to their programs and presentations.

The ensemble performs repertoire ranging from familiar masterpieces to neglected gems, and their fascinating and delightful programs with varied instrumental combinations have been as enthusiastically praised as their extraordinary, dynamic performances.

Hoffman is one of America's best known and most highly regarded music educators. He is the author of NPR's "Classical Music Companion: Terms and Concepts from A to Z," and is the music commentator for NPR's "Morning Edition," which is heard by a national audience of some 14 million people.

Upcoming performers include multi-Grammy Award winner David Holt, a well-known musician, storyteller and historian, Sunday, Oct. 25; the New Century Saxophone Quartet (Sunday, Feb. 21); and the Tokyo String Quartet (Sunday, March 21)
