The Sandhills Patriots varsity football team (ages 12-13) defeated the Southview Buccaneers 34-0 to remain unbeaten and un-scored upon.

After receiving the opening kickoff, the Patriots' offense drove the ball down the field culminating in a 10 yard touchdown pass from Tristan Helms to Billy McDougald. That was all the offense the Patriots would need thanks to a tough defense led by Malik Newsome, Ryan Baker, Brandon Matthews, Kellen Winningham, and Brandon Smith.

The Patriot defense held the Buccanneers to negative total yardage for the game and didn't yield a single first down.

Offensively, Helms scored two touchdowns rushing and connected with Jaylen Taylor for touchdown. Chance Castillo completed the scoring on a 30-yard run on the game's final play.

The Patriots kicking game continued strong with Jackson Maples booming kickoffs deep into Buccaneer territory and Conner Hees nailing all of his extra points attempts.

The Patriots will take to the road again this weekend when they play the West Charlotte Redskins.

The Sandhills Patriot prep team (ages 8-9) also remained undefeated with a victory over the North Charlotte Colts 31-0. On its first possession, the Patriots scored on a 50-yard run by Mason Wagner. Canaan Helton continued to impress at the tailback position scoring four touchdowns and completing a pass for a two-point conversion to wide receiver Nick Pry, who made a beautiful catch in the end zone.

Jakailen Blue, Arnee Egbee, Kyle Elhers, Dylan Gray and Jordan Moss played solid for the Prep defense, which has allowed only one touchdown in three games. Jaden McKnight scored on a two-point conversion and Jonathan Groff made several big tackles for the defense.

The Sandhills Patriots junior varsity (ages 10-11) team defeated the previously undefeated New Berth Packers 14-6. Keying the Patriots victory was Keegan Good who scored on a long run. The Patriot defense was led by Carson Maples and Ayinde' McKnight.
