The League of Women Voters of Moore County is continuing its monthly luncheon meeting with speakers on important community issues.

The September luncheon meeting will be Tuesday, Sept. 15, at the Table on the Green Restaurant, in Midland Country Club, 2205 Midland Drive (Route 2) in Pinehurst. Check-in time is 11:30 a.m.; the meeting will start at 11:45. All League meetings are open to the public, with prior reservations.

The topic for the September luncheon will be "Judicial Department Needs in Moore County." The two speakers are T. Cary McSwain, county manager for Moore County, and Judge James W. Webb, the senior residential Superior Court judge for District 19D. Speakers will answer questions from the audience at the end.

T. Cary Mc Swain, the county manager since October 2006, received his bachelor's degree in political science from UNC Chapel Hill and a master's degree in public administration from N.C. State University. McSwain was the Interim County Manager in Marlboro, in 2006. He has held various administrative positions throughout the state, and was the interim county manager in Marlboro, S.C., prior to coming to Moore County.

James M. Webb became a Superior Court judge in 1990 and is currently the senior resident Superior Court judge of Judicial District 19-D (Moore County). He received a bachelor's degree in political science from N.C. State University and earned his law degree from N.C. Central University School of Law. A U.S. Army veteran, he served as an assistant district attorney for a number of years for the 20th Judicial District.

The total cost for the lunch is $12: a check payable to LWVMC is the preferred method of payment. (No-shows will still be required to pay, unless they cancel before the event, according to a spokesman.)
