The Moore County Farmers Market and FirstHealth of the Carolinas will celebrate the end of summer on Monday, Sept. 28, at the FirstHealth Farmers Market.
In addition to a wide selection of fresh, locally grown produce, the market will host special events and demonstrations throughout the afternoon as follows:
Cooking demonstrations and taste testing The FirstHealth Community Health staff will demonstrate how to use fresh Farmers Market produce to create healthy and easy meals. Demonstrations start at 2, 3, 4 and 5 p.m.
Blood pressure screenings courtesy of FirstHealth Mobile Health Services. Screenings will be available from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
Cinnamon LeBlanc from the FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness Southern Pines will conduct 15-minute yoga sessions in observance of National Yoga Month. Sessions will begin at 2:15, 3:15, 4:15 and 5:15 p.m.
Performances from the Terpsichore/STARS dance troupe and STARS honors choir. Performances will be presented from 2 to 4 p.m.
Live jazz music will be performed throughout the afternoon courtesy of Ellis Brooks, Paul Murphy and Alan Daubenspeck.
All events are free and open to the public. The FirstHealth Farmers Market is held in the lower parking lot of the FirstHealth Center for Health and Fitness Pinehurst at 170 Memorial Drive.
