Village Green Group Seeks Input

A village committee is asking residents to assist it in considering plans for enhancing the Village Green.

The Village Green Study Commission, formed this spring, is tasked with charting a course of direction for the 14-acre property located in the center of the village. In June, the commission found that some form of enhancement would be desirable. The Village Council gave the commission the authority to make a recommendation on a design for the council to vote on.

The commission will be receiving proposals from designers on Sept. 11. On Sept. 18, it will host a community exhibit at the Fair Barn to garner residents' input. There will be two showings -- one from 10 a.m. to noon and another from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

"One of the things we're trying to do is involve as much as the community as we can," Chairman Bill Wetmore said. "[First] in helping make the decision, and second, their views of what they would like to see."

Commission members will have informal discussions with the council members the week of Sept. 22. These will be informative in nature, and will not take place at a scheduled council meeting.

It's still unknown how many proposals could be received, and one designer could submit multiple designs. Tom Melhorn, who is heading up the design process on the commission, estimated somewhere between six and 12.
