Violet Ada Weston, 88, of Pinehurst, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at her residence.

Mrs. Weston was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Miami, Fla., to the late Glen Malcolm Burt and Maggie Fisher Burt.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, at Boles Funeral Home in Southern Pines with the Rev. Jim Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park in Southern Pines.

Mrs. Weston, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, traveled all over the world as an Air Force wife of Lt. Col Frank Howard Weston, her husband of 70 years. She visited and assisted shut-ins in Buie's Creek and volunteered with Meals on Wheels in her spare time. She was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in Pinehurst. She enjoyed painting, knitting and crocheting. Her strong will to live helped her to survive several forms of cancer and various health conditions over the past 25 years.

Mrs. Weston is survived by her husband, Frank Howard Weston, of Pinehurst; two sons, Frank Howard Weston Jr., and wife, Luba, of Arnold, Md., and Cory Malcolm Weston and wife, Susan of Savannah, Ga.; two daughters, Kathleen Weston, of Pinehurst, and Laurie Davis and husband, Dr. Keith Davis, of Pinehurst; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Glen Norman Burt and Vernon Burt, and two sisters, Iona Burt Martin and Alice Lorraine Padgett.
