There are more than 2,000 different species of birds in North America, with 925 being spotted within the United States.
With the help of Meridian Kiosks, the Cornell Lab of Ornithology has found a way for the average person to learn more about these different types of bird species as soon as the bird is seen.
When Cornell University first came to Meridian Kiosks in 2005, its request was simple -- create a kiosk where someone can input a description of a bird and find out exactly what it is. Meridian Kiosks built Cornell a "Monarch" kiosk to house in the Stuart Observatory. Since then, Meridian has built and shipped various kiosks for Cornell.
These kiosks have been shipped to different national wildlife refuges throughout the United States. Of the kiosks built, many were "Monarchs," shipped to places such as the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge in Decatur, Ala.; the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge in Sanibel, Fla.; and the Horicon National Wildlife Refuge/U.S. Fish and Wildlife Refuge headquarters in Mayville, Wis.; among others.
Meridian Kiosks also built a compact dual kiosk, which was shipped to the Cornell University Quinta Mazatlan X World Birding Center in McAllen, Texas.
In June, Meridian Kiosks sent its "Tavalo Lite" all-in-one kiosk to the Cornell Lab in Ithaca, N.Y. The "Tavalo" was used for a demonstration at the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services (USFWS) conference. The USFWS was able to showcase all of its applications and functions available through the kiosks.
Currently, Meridian Kiosks is working on its "Titan" outdoor kiosk for the E.B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge in Oceanville, N.J.
The "Monarch" is Meridian Kiosks' signature design. It combines stylish appeal, flexibility and durability, a news release said. The "Monarch" comes with the option for a 15-, 17- and 19-inch LCD touch screen, with an optional dual screen.
The compact dual kiosk is Meridian's most popular sit-down model, the news release said. Cornell's particular model includes a dual screen, one 17-inch industrial LCD nontouch monitor and one 17-inch ELO-touch LCD screen. The compact is available in many different configurations to fit multiple environments.
One of Meridians newest kiosks is the "Titan." It is designed for full outdoor use in any weather and can deliver self service solutions in any environment. It is designed to be safe, reliable and easy to use.
Meridian Kiosks is North America's leading kiosk manufacturer for the self service industry. For more information on Meridian Kiosks, visit www.meridiankiosks.com.
