North Moore's volleyball team fell 3-0 at East Surry Tuesday in the second round of the Class 1A state tournament.
The Lady Mustangs finished the season with a 14-7 overall record and in third place in the Yadkin Valley Conference.
Saturday in Chapel Hill, Union Pines' volleyball team saw its season end with a straight set loss to Chapel Hill in the opening round of the 3A state playoffs.
Union Pines, which finished third in the Cape Fear Valley Conference with a league mark of 8-4, had won seven of its previous nine matches before Saturday's loss to the Tigers, who improved to 22-6 on the year with the opening-round victory.
After starting the year at 1-6, Union Pines finished the season with an overall record of 11-12.
Pinecrest was unable to match the heavy hitters of Durham Jordan in Saturday afternoon's first round 4A state playoff volleyball match.
The Patriots were defeated 21-25, 26-24, 21-25 and 25-15, ending the season with a record of 11-11. The Falcons, 14-10, advanced to play undefeated Wakefield in a second round contest.
Ashleigh McKenzie led the Patriots with 11 kills and 10 digs. Harrison was top server with 10 points. Paige Horne finished with 11 assists and six digs. Arielle Fairley had seven digs and Nelson and Megan Thomas finished with six each. George had nine kills.
Pinecrest came into the tournament as the third seed from the Southeastern Conference.
