Thanks, Kind Folks

I recently attempted to step up on the sidewalk curb in front of the UPS store at Belk Plaza. I didn't quite make it, and I took a bad fall on the sidewalk, landing on my left side and my head.

Almost immediately I was picked up by two nice young men and helped into a chair in front of the UPS store. They asked if I wanted to go to the hospital or if they could call an ambulance for me. I was hurt, but I didn't think I had any broken bones.

Their sincere care and concern was a jump-start to my rapid recovery. A fellow named Mitch helped me to get situated in the UPS store. He called my family and even waited with me until they arrived. That night, he called the house to see if I was doing all right.

The personnel at UPS as well as their customers were very helpful, providing towels for my cuts, and even made my copies for me! There were probably a dozen or more people offering their help, care and concern.

I couldn't help but think these good people know the secret of life -- caring for others more than you care for yourself. Thank you to all of them. It was a painful, yet memorable experience.
