The Sandhills Patriots' varsity squad continued its winning streak Oct. 10 defeating the Illumination Titans 34-0.

Chance Castillo threw for one touchdown and ran for another while Jaylen Taylor dragged would-be tacklers all over the field scoring two touchdowns. Receiver Dalton Bullard was on the receiving end of Castillo's halfback pass, and quarterback Tristian Helms scored on a quarterback keeper.

Behind the blocking of Tommy Baggett, Ashten Keith, Christian Boeger, Jacob Green and Tyler Coe, the Patriot offensive line dominated the line of scrimmage, while the Patriot defense did not allow a point for the sixth consecutive game.

Malik Newsome, Kellen Winningham, Joseph Anderson and Tristian Mullins provided the pressure on the Titan's offense, forcing two fumbles and an interception by Scott Hooper.

The victory clinched the American Conference regular season championship for the Patriots.

They played the undefeated East Charlotte Cowboys last Saturday at the Southern Pines Elementary School.

The Patriot JV and Prep teams also registered shutouts. The prep team won 7-0 with Mason Wagner scoring the lone touchdown to improve to 7-0, clinching the American Conference championship for the regular season in the process.

The JV victory was the team's fifth straight and the team clinched a playoff birth. The preps and JV were also in action against the Cowboys last Saturday.
