North Moore hosts Gray Stone in the first round of the Yadkin Valley Conference tournament Monday at 6 p.m., while Pinecrest hosts Lumberton in the first round of the Southeastern Conference tournament Monday at 7 p.m..

Sandhills Community College's volleyball team defeated Central Carolina Community College 25-16, 25-13, 25-9 Oct. 8 on Sophomore Night.

Sarah Thomas posted 10 kills, four aces and two blocks for the Flyers, and Amber Otkin added nine digs, six kills and two aces. Brittney Karshner posted a team-high 11 digs and three aces, and Bethany Neller had nine digs and two blocks, while Alisha Ritter posted 15 assists and eight digs and Angie Cruz posted 11 assists and two aces. Stephanie Powell had seven kills.

The three sophomores honored were Karshner, Neller and Otkin.

Sandhills hosts a tri-match today playing Davidson Community College at 1 p.m. and Central Carolina Community College at 5 p.m.
