19th Hole: Dial Edges Pinehurst's Dunlap

Alex Dial of Maxton won the boys 16-18 age division of the Eastern Junior Golf Association tournament held at Gates Four Golf and Country Club last weekend, but it took an under-par round and playoff to get the job done.

Dial opened with 76 in the event and trailed first-round leader Austin Dunlap of Pinehurst by four strokes going into the Sunday finale. He rallied with a 1-under-par 71 on the Willard Byrd course to tie Dunlap at 147 and won the title in playoff.

Dunlap shot 72-75.

Connor Reilly of Whispering pines shot 77-73 to claim third place with 150. Brandon Mawyer of Whispering Pines was at 174 and Daniel Tucker of Carthage at 179.

P.J. Kester of Wrightsville Beach shot 73-72-145 to win the 14-15 age bracket, winning by five strokes over second-place Minching Kim of Cary. Ethan Harris of Whispering Pines was 10th with 172.

Forrest Putnam of Fayetteville won the 12-13 age division with 155, edging Elliott Grayson of Shelby by a shot. Josh Stockwell of Aberdeen was third with 164, with Sean Chang of Aberdeen at 168.

Brian Chen of Cary won the 10-11 age division title with 158, followed by Chris Kim at 167.

Gina Kim of Chapel Hill shot 82-80--162 to win the Girls Division. Amy Wooten of Clinton was a stroke back with 163. Marisa Daquil-Kawabe of Fayetteville was third with 188.
