The Pinecrest volleyball team improved to 4-2 in the Southeastern Conference with a 25-17, 25-20 and 25-19 home sweep over Lumberton Thursday evening.

Junior Addy George served for 14 points and was credited with six kills and five digs, as the Patriots improved to 7-7 overall. Lumberton remains winless in league play.

The Patriots took command early as six service points in a row by George staked them to a 12-3 lead. Freshman Janea Williams was a force at the net in the second and third sets, picking up most of her team-high eight kills. The match ended on junior Ashleigh McKenzie's fifth kill, a wicked cross-court smash.

Senior Paige Horne and freshman Megan Thomas each contributed nine assists.

Pinecrest entertains a Scotland County team on Tuesday that is 6-0 in the conference and 16-0 overall after a three-game sweep of Purnell Swett on Thursday. The Patriot junior varsity team (2-3, 8-6) swept Lumberton for its third league win in a row.
