Trinity Music Academy presents its annual Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 5, in the sanctuary of Trinity United Methodist Church, corner of Russell and Blair streets in Troy.
The concert, "Christmas with the Chandleys," features TMA executive director Dr. Paul Chandley and his wife, pianist and composer Sophia Pavlenko Chandley, playing duets for two pianos, as well as music from the Clara Capel Memorial Pipe Organ and a new feature for the academy, Dr. Chandley's hand-built Trinity indoor carillon.
The evening's program includes selections from Tchaikovsky's "Nutcracker," Pachelbel's "Canon in D," Bach's "Brandenburg Concerto in G Major," Adams' "O Holy Night," Joio's "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," Pavlenko's "Christmas Festival," plus many more arrangements of favorite Christmas songs and carols.
"If you have a music lover on your Christmas list, a Christmas CD of the Chandleys' music will be sold at the concert, with proceeds going toward the academy's student scholarship fund," says a spokesman.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling (910) 576-2082 and leaving a message for Marie, or purchased at the door.
