Union Pines' wrestling team went 5-0 to win the Moore County Duals in impressive fashion Saturday.
The showing came just one day after UP won its season opener 48-18 over Southwestern Randolph.
By besting South Johnston 74-6, Overhills 68-0, Harnett Central 72-6, Jack Britt 28-21 and Durham Riverside 42-29, the Vikings improved their record to 6-0 on the year.
"Those wins against Britt and Riverside are huge," said Union Pines head coach Matt Ragsdale, "because both those programs are perennial 4A powerhouse wrestling programs in the state."
Three Vikes are still unbeaten as Michael Brennan (160 pounds), Graham Haulsee (189) and Adrian Soto-Perez (145) are currently 6-0 on the year. Union Pines also has eight grapplers with 5-1 records including Brandon Berry (119), Danny Deardorff (125), Seth Kosem (112), Kelvin Morrison (152), Blake Muse (140), Kaleb Rierson (215), Chris Rubinosky (135) and Randy Stevens (130).
Tuesday night the Vikings took their undefeated record on the road, as Union Pines traveled to county rival Pinecrest for a nonconference dual match. See thepilot.com for results.
