Some of you may be interested in volunteering for the 2010 World Equestrian Games, so I'm passing along some information I received from the organizers.

It's in a question and answer format, and contact information is listed in the last paragraph.

Q: I confirmed my interest, selected a position and got an itinerary. Does that mean I am definitely a volunteer?

A: Your confirmation e-mail displays the itinerary and dates you selected, but it is not your official letter of assignment. We currently have a multi-step selection process in place that includes a background check. Official WEG volunteers will be confirmed at the end of that process, which will take place over the next couple of months. Competition volunteers are being hand-selected by each discipline manager and will be notified over the next several weeks.

Q: How do I sign up to volunteer for more than one position?

A: We are working on improving our registration process to allow you to sign up for more opportunities.

Q: Will there be volunteer opportunities/accommodations available for those with disabilities?

A: Yes, there are many opportunities suited to volunteers with disabilities. Go ahead and register, and then if you have any concerns call us.

Q: I need to plan my housing options. What should I do?

A: We are working to provide a range of affordable housing options for volunteers. >However, each volunteer is required to pay for and complete their own hotel/housing arrangements. For your reference, a list ("Housing Options") is posted on the volunteer Web site.

Q: What if I am waiting to buy tickets?

A: To make the most of your spectator experience, we encourage you to go ahead and purchase tickets now to those events that you want to see.

Q: Do you still need volunteers?

A: We still need to fill thousands of volunteer positions, and every one of them is important. If you are already registered, please let others know about this opportunity.

Q: How long will you take volunteer registrations?

A: We will be taking registrations until early spring. However, due to abundant interest, we encourage everyone to sign up as soon as possible.

Q: I am a member of a group that wants to volunteer. Can we do that?

A: Yes. Groups are a vital part of our volunteer program. Young professionals, corporate groups and community organizations are all needed to make our games a success.

Q: What if I still have questions?

A: Feel free to call us at (859) 244-2996 or e-mail us at volunteers@feigames2010.org. We will personally respond to your questions.
