The Carolina Horse Park is hosting a one-day Thanksgiving Classic event next Sunday.
The non-recognized show will feature a $1,000 3' and 3'6" Hunter Classic in the morning. The two-round class will start at 9 a.m. and feature natural jumps over an outside course with ringside parking.
Lunchtime will feature a guest appearance by the Moore County Hounds and a bareback celebrity high jump competition. There will be driving and dressage demonstrations along with a ringside lunch.
The afternoon will showcase a $5,000 Jumper Classic held at 4'-4'3" over the derby-type course.
Blake Alder, of Germantown, Tenn., and Marc Donovan, of Aberdeen, will design the course.
Call the Carolina Horse Park for more information and to reserve parking spots or lunch reservations.
During the day, the Carolina Horse Park's world class cross country course will be open for walks.
The CHP December Classic will again be held the weekend of Dec. 3-6. Last year the stalls were sold out, and this year calls are already coming in.
Priority in permanent stalls will be given on a first-come basis. Call Andrew Ellis at (919) 637-2958 if stabling is needed.
The Carolina Horse Park has expanded the lower-level jumpers and added a low child-adult division. These classes should provide a broad opportunity for local eventing riders to utilize the jumper ring.
