Birdie: By that once-fearsome female known as Ida, who turned out to be a lady of relatively mild and forgiving -- even generous -- temperament. No longer a hurricane or even a tropical storm by the time she blew through Moore County, Ida instead was content to drench us with days and inches of much-needed, soaking rain and only a modicum of wind damage or flooding here. Thanks, girl. You were our kind of tempest.
