Sandhills Community College offers classes in Windows and the use of digital cameras.
Become familiar with Microsoft's Vista operating system. The Vista Level I course includes learning to navigate in Windows, using the start menu, understanding basic file management, printing and more. The Computing for Beginners Using Windows class or prior computer experience is required.
The Vista class will begin Nov. 10, and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Dec. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Another class will begin Nov. 23, and run from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. each Monday and Wednesday until Dec. 16. The cost is $65 (waived for individuals 65 or older) plus a technology fee of $5.
"If you are planning to purchase or have already bought a new desktop or laptop, learn how to migrate your old desktop to a new PC," says a spokesman. "This course will help you move your old files to your new platform."
The Migration class will begin Nov. 12 and will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays through Nov. 17, from 3 to 5 p.m. The cost is $30 (all must pay).
A Computing for Beginners-Microsoft Windows XP class will begin on Nov. 3 and be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays through Dec. 15 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The cost is $65 (waived for individuals 65 or older) plus a technology fee of $5.
A one-day course, Getting to Know Your Digital Camera, will teach the common features found on most digital cameras, how to use them to produce quality images and how to transfer the images to a computer. The class will be held on Friday, Nov. 13, from 9 to 5 p.m. The same class will be offered again on Dec. 11. The cost is $30 (all must pay). The prerequisite for this class is Computing for Beginners.
