Monday, May 4, at the Presbyterian Women's Annual Birthday meeting, Rose Rodriguez, a member of Cypress Presbyterian Church, presented a stained glass piece of art that she designed and created to Sue Rice, moderator of the Presbyterian Women at Cypress.
The stained glass piece is a replica of the Presbyterian Women logo, adopted in 1988 by the voting delegates to the organizing meeting of Presbyterian Women. The original logo was designed by Sarah Abbot of the Synod of the Covenant.
According to the Presbyterian Women of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), "the outline of the central figure in the logo forms a cross. The right figure holds a book to guide her reading, studying, praying or meditating. The left figure reaches out to care for others as she shares, nurtures and heals. The uplifted arms of the central figure reach out to embrace a just peace. The three women have no distinct features. They represent all women."
Cypress Presbyterian Church is located at 1220 Cypress Church Road, seven miles east of Vass, and regularly celebrates Sunday worship services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m.
