Art Anonymous Offers Mini-Masterpieces

Inspired by a fundraising event from the Royal Academy of London, the Arts Council of Moore County (ACMC) is pleased to announce that many artists have donated hundreds of 5x7 mini-masterpieces for a new and distinctive event called Art Anonymous. The exhibit will open Friday, June 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. (no earlier than 6 p.m.) at the Campbell House (482 E. Connecticut Ave., Southern Pines).

Like all ACMC exhibits at Campbell House Galleries, admission is free and open to the public.

The idea for Art Anonymous is simple: invite artists from all over Moore County and North Carolina to submit original 2-D artwork with just two rules -- the art must be the size of a 5x7 postcard, and it must be signed on the reverse, keeping the artists' identity anonymous.

All cards will be exhibited at ACMC's June art exhibit, with each piece costing just $50. Once the piece is sold, the identity of the artist will be revealed. Proceeds from Art Anonymous will be used to support the programs and services of ACMC.

Since 1973, ACMC has been dedicated to promoting and supporting artists by providing a place to exhibit and sell their artwork. Examples of this include the monthly feature gallery exhibits and sales gallery at Campbell House Galleries and the annual Fine Arts Festival in August.

"We also provide funding to individual artists through the Regional Artists Project Grant of the NC Arts Council, publicity through our Web site, and serve as an arts advocate," says Chris Dunn, executive director. "Only through the support of our members, artists, volunteers, sponsors, and community, may ACMC continue to offer a wide variety of arts programs to Moore County citizens of all ages and fulfill its mission: Support, Promote and Develop Arts and Arts Education Throughout Moore County."

Several hundred 5x7 mini-masterpieces by artists from all over the southeast U.S. have been donated to Art Anonymous. This unique exhibit will be on display at Campbell House through June 26.

The galleries are open Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on Saturday, June 20, from 2 to 4 p.m.
