Deputies Arrest Three In Undercover Operation

A two-month undercover investigation resulted in the seizure of more than 1.2 pounds of cocaine, six firearms and the arrest of three men in the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store in Vass Tuesday.

Officers from the Moore County Sheriff's Office select enforcement unit and narcotics unit arrested were Leonso Martinez-Vallejo, Austreberto Gabino Silvestre and Alejo Sandria Domiguez after searching a car in the store's parking lot, according to a news release. Besides the cocaine, deputies also found 13 grams of marijuana and $68.

The arrests came after the narcotics unit had purchased 100 grams of cocaine over the course of the two-month investigation, the news release said.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs was $51,140.

In a subsequent search of a home at 3260 Underwood Road in Carthage, officers found the six firearms, including an assault rifle and a sawed-off .20-gauge shotgun, items of drug paraphernalia and $199.

Martinez-Vallejo, 38, of 140 Hiddenwood Road, West End, was charged with four counts of felony trafficking in cocaine, four counts of felony conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, felony conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and felony deliver cocaine. His bail was set at $150,000.

Silvestre, 29, of 142 Michaels Loop, West End, was charged with four counts of felony trafficking in cocaine, four counts of felony conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, felony conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and felony deliver cocaine. His bail was set at $150,000.

Domiguez, 21, of 317 Fourth Street, Sanford, was charged with four counts of felony trafficking in cocaine, four counts of felony conspiracy to traffic in cocaine, felony conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine, felony possession of cocaine with intent to sell or deliver and felony deliver cocaine. His bail was set at $150,000.

Larceny: Two men face several charges after being arrested in connection with a larceny that occurred at a Cameron residence in February.

Anthony Palmer II, 20, of 74 Shadow in Whispering Pines, was arrested March 24, and charged with felony larceny and possession of stolen goods for the larceny that was reported to the Moore County Sheriff's Office on Feb. 5. He had an unsecured bond of $5,000.

Matthew Scott Henley, 21, of 107 West Maple Street, Vass, was arrested Monday, and charged with felony larceny, possession of stolen property and two counts of obtaining property by false pretense. His bond was set at $25,000.

Two local pawn shops referenced a fraud in connection with the case to the sheriff's office on Feb. 12 and April 4.
